About Me
I’m Kayla, though some of my favorite people call me Katie Bee—a nickname that holds a special place in my heart. My husband, Joel, lovingly calls me Katie Bee, and while not everyone uses that name, it resonates deeply with me. Growing up, my family on my mom’s side often called me Katie, and my parents still use endearing names like Katie Kitten or Katie Bob. My grandparents, who have been gone for years now, always called me Katie. Sometimes I close my eyes just to hear their voices again. Oh, how I miss them!
These days, I’m a wife, mom, and homemaker living in Tennessee on a beautiful 26-acre property in the mountains with my family. We even built our log cabin here! We share our home with our beautiful German Shepherd, Kia, who protects us and our land, as well as our three cats—Harper, Shadow, and Hope. My heart is rooted in faith, and I trust that with God’s help (and plenty of laughs), I’ll keep learning and growing with each passing year. My husband and I aren’t afraid to call each other out when necessary—it’s part of how we keep things real and stay close.
Although I am not a teacher (was my dream job), I love when I can substitute teach at my kids’ school. My dream is truly what I’m living now, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. I focus on supporting Joel, loving our children Zoe and Zeke, and finding joy in the everyday tasks of homemaking—gardening, baking fresh bread, and preparing home-cooked meals. The picture here is the very first one of my family and me on our land, a moment I hold dear.
Recently, we’ve embarked on a new adventure: remodeling a fixer-upper cottage! It’s exciting, a little overwhelming, but an incredible journey we’re tackling together. Whether you’re here to follow along with our fixer-upper or just want to share in our journey, I can’t wait to connect with you.
This blog is my way of embracing life’s messy beauty and promoting authenticity. None of us have it all figured out, and that’s okay. Whether you’re a mom, a homesteader, or simply looking for inspiration, I hope my journey resonates with you. Let’s share some laughs, lessons, and heart along the way.
Thanks for being here, and stay tuned for more!
Warmly,
Katie Bee
